“If We Knew Trans History” – A Series by Joy Michael Ellison

I’m loving learning more about Trans history with Joy Michael Ellison’s series. In If We Knew Trans History, We Would Embrace Trans Rage, we get another view of the power of Sylvia Rivera. As Joy writes, upon their eviction from STAR house, “a home where Rivera, [Marsha P.] Johnson and their friends lived together, along with other young trans women who would otherwise be living on the streets,” Sylvia fought back.

As Joy writes, “I love the image of Sylvia Rivera, angry and unapologetic, heaving a refrigerator through a window. The sound of the shattering glass and the thud of the fridge hitting the cement must have been magnificent.”

It’s a very cool series – check it out at Joy’s website here.

The light in me recognizes and acknowledges the light in you,
