Only one person
makes Violet’s heart skip

Of all the kids in Violet’s class, only one leaves her speechless: Mira, the girl with the cheery laugh who races like the wind. If only they could adventure together! But every time Violet tries to tell Mira how she feels, Violet goes shy. As Valentine’s Day approaches, Violet is determined to tell Mira just how special she is.

This story is lovely, and hinges of finding the courage to share your feelings – specifically how Violet wants to tell Mira how she feels about her. There’s a great twist when things don’t work out exactly as Violet hoped, and then a happily-into-adventure-they-go ending.

An interior spread from "Love, Violet" that shows Violet and Mira running through the snow holding hands. The text reads: "Want to go on an adventure?" asked Violet.
"Yes!" cried Mira. And they were off,
galloping over snowy drifts
to see what they might find.

The art is expressive and amid the winter setting glows with warmth. This is absolutely a picture book I wish had been read to me when I was a little kid!

The light in me recognizes and acknowledges the light in you,
Lee
